We are pleased to announce version 4.6 of our Alpha/VAX/Sparc virtualization products. This new version includes functional updates, many of which have been requested by our customers, as well as support for the latest software security standards.

Here is a summary of the most important changes:

  • Upgraded to the newest security standards.
  • Mount all network shares in parallel during boot.
  • Implement safe mode booting to disable autostart of all emulators and preventing of mounting network shares.
  • Added support for DE504 and DE602 ethernet devices in vtAlpha.
  • vtAlpha: reworked MAC address generation in networking to include console specification and bus location of network adapter.
  • vtAlpha: added host cpu info and kernel version to license environment variable in srm console.
  • Allow disabling of ctrl-p on vtAlpha console.
  • vtVAX: up to 56 storage units on scsi adapters supported
  • Enhanced DSSI performance significantly for VAX4000-100 and -200 models and a smaller improvement for the VAX7000 series.
  • Allow the logical tape "Max size" option to be 0 to define a tape that Tape Manager will report as "unlimited".
  • Introduction of lower-end Sparc models.
  • The Web Console sub-tab is added under the Host tab of vtMonitor.
  • vtMonitor: replaced shellinabox by ttyd.
  • Show available Nvidia driver in sysinfo.
